What is Waterjet Cutting?

Waterjet cutting is a highly versatile processing technology. It utilizes high-pressure water streams (either alone or mixed with abrasive particles) to cut various materials.

—When dealing with softer materials such as rubber, foam, or textiles, pure water cutting is commonly used because it provides clean and precise cutting results.

—For harder materials such as glass, stone, ceramic tiles, or metal, abrasive waterjet cutting is used.This method adds finely ground abrasive media to the water flow.It can easily erode and penetrate dense surfaces.

Why Choose 5Axis Over 3Axis?

Traditional waterjet cutting systems are typically built on three axes-X, Y, and Z. The X-axis moves the cutting head side to side, the Y-axis moves it forward and backward, and the Z-axis controls vertical movement. Together, these define a two-dimensional cutting plane, suitable for flat profiles and straight-line cuts.

The 5-Axis waterjet cutter has further enhanced its performance by adding the A-axis and C-axis. These axes enable the cutting head to tilt up to 60 degrees and rotate freely, precise bevel cutting, chamfering, and complex contour cutting. This advanced five-axis linkage is suitable for welding preparation, complex geometry processing, and three-dimensional surface treatment. It reduces the need for secondary processing and significantly shortens production time.
